The Malaysian Smart Factory 4.0 (MSF4.0) was launched on the 25th of September 2018 with the objective of supporting industries to adopt a practical and sustainable digital transformation. This project received a seed grant from the Selangor State Government to kickstart the project and currently the project is self-sustaining.

To enable a practical and sustainable digital transformation for the industries in Malaysia, the MSF4.0 team established an ecosystem of collaboration between local and global partners. This technology partnership model enables the industries and community to have access to the latest trends of technology and co-develop potential solutions between the technology partner, end-user, academia, and our MSF4.0 team.

The solutions developed would be recorded as “technology application recipes” which is then translated into technology transfer programs to assist other industries with similar problem statements to adopt them. These technology solutions developed are then shared with the industries and community in Malaysian and kept within the open source repository.

By making technology solutions accessible (as open source technology) and by providing access to technology transfer programs, the MSF4.0 initiative is able to create a ripple effect and impact towards the industries and community in Malaysia. This is through providing accessible solutions to a universal manufacturing problem faced by the industries which is able to benefit an entire industry sector.

The technology transfer programs are provided to the industries as a form of capacity building program to empower and equip their internal team with the capability of implementing digital transformation from within. A people-focused strategy drives technology innovation and sustainability while creating high value transformation.

As the technology solutions are provided as open technologies (open source) and accessible and through continuous innovation, a sustainable transformation can be achieved. We truly believe that innovation and sustainable digital transformation begins with the people.
