What is NASA Space Apps Sarawak?

Local chapter of the global NASA Space Apps Challenge, the world’s largest global hackathon with over 58,000 participants in 2023! Launched in 2021 by Sarawak’s Ministry of Education, Innovation & Talent Development (MEITD)

For: Sarawakian youth (13-17) & young professionals (18+)
Goal: To empower youth to tackle real-world challenges in Earth & space science using NASA data Structure: Participants collaborate in teams, developing innovative solutions and prototypes during the hackathon weekend.

Building Skills for the Global Competition: Months before the October hackathon, we’ve conducted free workshops & seminars for participants to equip them with the skills needed to compete on a global stage. Free Seminars at over 50 schools & institutions (months before hackathon): Learn the hackathon guidelines Explore NASA missions topic sharing (e.g., Parker Solar Probe, James Webb Telescope) Get hands-on with STEM activities that showcase advanced NASA technology Online & offline workshops to develop critical skills, including Pitching: Learn to present ideas persuasively in a short timeframe using compelling storytelling techniques. Teamwork: Develop effective collaboration skills to tackle complex challenges within a team. Prototyping: Gain the know-how to bring ideas to life using prototyping tools like Figma. Beyond the Competition: Fostering a Culture of Innovation

NASA Space Apps Sarawak is more than just a competition. It fosters a vibrant ecosystem of: Innovation: Encourages participants to think creatively and develop solutions to real-world problems. Lifelong Learning: Ignites a passion for continuous learning and exploration in STEM fields. International Collaboration: Connects Sarawakian youth with a global network of young minds passionate about space science.

Equitable Access for All The program prioritizes equitable access, with targeted outreach programs conducted in rural communities. This ensures that all young minds in Sarawak have the opportunity to participate and contribute to a sustainable future.

Eligibility

1. Organization (CSR Project / Business) are related to 17 SDG Goal & 169 targets .
(refer to https ://sdgs.un.org/goals )

2. Organization who are minimum 1 year / Project minimum 1 year

3. Evaluate not based on Organizations business value or monetary

4. Evaluate based on Organizations involve in 17 Goals Impact to the Environment,Social & Governance.

5. Is the Organization / project able to sustain? Does the organization has Future Timeline ? Can the organization improve?

Nomination Process
STEP 1
Register an account as nominee via JCIM Roadmap with personal details.
STEP 2
Complete the online application and prepare your entrepreneurial data including market analysis, strategic and finances and any other relevant supporting documents for our judge to know you and your business.
STEP 3
Review by our invited judge and you will be invited for interview if selected.
